Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education signed a cooperation protocol with Germany's Goethe-Institut and publisher Hueber Verlag to bring the German-language textbook "Dabei!" into Egyptian schools.
The agreement introduces the textbook's two beginner levels, A1.1 and A1.2, along with related audio and visual content. The materials will be used under the newly introduced Egyptian Baccalaureate System beginning in the 2026/2027 academic year.
Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel-Latif witnessed the signing ceremony. Representatives from the Goethe-Institut, Hueber Verlag, and a German embassy official also attended the event.
Abdel-Latif noted that the arrangement aims to leverage German expertise in language teaching to give local students advanced skills and open up new academic and professional pathways. Publishing and institute representatives described the partnership as a strong model for future educational cooperation.
This initiative forms part of a wider effort by Egypt to broaden international educational partnerships and expand German-language learning options. Previous milestones include introducing German as an elective second language in public schools and launching joint projects such as the network of Egyptian-German schools.
